Charlene Prounis brings a broad range of healthcare experience, developed over a multifunctional career, to bear on strategic market development and branding. Through time spent on agency account management overseeing advertising and market-conditioning initiatives, pharmaceutical sales, and nursing management, Charlene is able to provide a unique perspective in strategic counsel to assist clients in building their business.
Charlene jumped back into the entrepreneurial world in the beginning of ‘05 by opening up another new Omnicom healthcare agency, Flashpoint Medica, after having grown Accel to a top 20 medical advertising agency in five years. Flashpoint is focused on igniting new opportunities at crucial moments by creating specialty communication tools for the doctor and the patient, the doctor and the sales rep and the thought leader to the brand manager. Flashpoint also provides the classic full-service advertising agency .
Accel quickly rose to national prominence and within two years was selected as Agency on the Rise by MedAdNews. Accel counted over nine pharma companies as clients including Baxter, Celltech, Forest, Genentech, Lupin, Millennium, Noven/Novogyne, Schering, and Valera. Clients view Charlene and all of Accel as energetic thinkers with a strong command of the market and scientific information that can fuel a brand’s success.
Prior to forming Accel, Charlene previously worked at Grey Healthcare Group for 12 years, where she was a Senior Vice President. Charlene began her career as an R.N. at North Shore University Hospital, where she was in charge of the C.C.U. and M.I.C.U. After that, she made the transition to the business side of medicine, working for Searle Laboratories as a professional sales representative.
Charlene has an ASN degree from Queensborough Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Adelphi University, magna cum laude, and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from St. John’s University. Charlene has been very active in the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association, and has been called back to serve again as President, after serving in the same role five years ago.
Charlene is also a frequent author of industry leading articles appearing in industry journals such as Pharmaceutical Executive, Medical Marketing and Media and has been quoted many times for Pharm Voice and Product Management Today.
Active in her community, Charlene serves as an advisor to Queensborough Community College and on the Board for Women on the Job, and the Association for the Help of Retarded Children.
